Default Which will be better for me? SC or Turbo

Hey guys, I'm about to finish some work this summer which should allow me to purchase eather a SC or a Turbo kit. I will have around 80K on my car by the end of the summer and was wondering if my ride has just too many miles on it to FI or if one of the two has any advantages to high miles like my car. I would like to lean towards the SC just to keep the costs a little lower. I don't drive my car very hard, except for the nice VTECing on the way home from along day at work . I would appreciate any input. Thanks, David

if your going to keep the car for a long time than turbo. anything else i would SC. but sooner or later your motor is going to go, SC or turbo.

My cars turbo and its also my everyday drive. IMHO how much you drive shouldnt be the deciding factor. How much power do you want? How much money do you want to spend? These days if your turbo is installed right and tuned right they are just as reliable as SC's. Turbo's the only way to go IMHO. But then again im bias...

Your statement makes no sense whatsoever and your points have no basis.

I only need the round about extra 100 horsies for my car. I guess the big question that i need answered is if the reliability in my car will plumit after a install of one of the two with the miles that i have on my car. Also, if i get my engine checked out and everything is running fine; if the miles on my car even will play a factor in the reliability of things breaking.

If your only looking for an extra 100rwhp then IMHO NOS would be the way to go for you. Its cheap and somewhat safe these days. I wouldnt worry about the engine miles. Its a Honda for gods sake... lol jk

I got my turbo kit installed at 85,321 miles back at the end of January. I am now at ~89,920 miles. So far so good. I'm definitely not trying to set HP records right now. Just wanted an extra kick for now until I have some money to have a proper motor built for my setup. But as of now I'm good :knocksonwood: It all depends on your tune and your ability to control yourself on the boost level

Thanks Capt!! That is one thing that i wanted to hear was someone that has had FI done with around 80K on their car. I knows that NOS is another option but i want something that once it is time to rebuild the motor i can work around the SC or turbo and make some nice #'s to the ground.

If you decide to go the turbo route, just make sure to have a lot of will power to not turn up the boost.

For the past week or two I've REALLY been wanting to turn up the boost. But I just can't risk it right now

Well, if you only want another 100whp and you think that you will be happy with that, then I would go with the SC'er if you have a higher mileage car. I will always believe that Turbo > SC, but with a higher mileage engine, less boost (ie.. you will not have full boost at 4k, but instead you will have it at 9k) equals less stress on the motor, and for only 100whp a bolt on SC'er will get the job done. Just my opinion though.
