Default Will car run after Headgasket install?

Currently with 3.6" pulley with 440cc injectors on AP1 SC/AC'd Comptech (AEM EMS). Going to bite the bullet and go 3.0" pulley with 675cc injectors.

My question:
If I have the headgasket installed locally, can I drive it up to my tuner to have the pulley / injectors / tune? What do people think the 3mm HG would do to AF ratios?

Opinions / experience?

Thanks.

less compression will make less HP, unless u know how to turn the boost WAY up

i agree,
if you lower your compression, your going to need more boost to make up for the original hp/tq.
lets say, your pushing 9 psi on 11:1 and making 300 hp
then the same 9 psi on 9:1 will Yield you less hp/tq
if you are willing to step up boost to 14- 20 psi then i will say do it, but if you do not Desirer that much boost, well stick to the stock hg..

to your question, yes you can drive the car to your tuner with the 3mm hg,

He said he is putting a smaller pulley on it. 3.0 compared to the 3.6 he has now.

I would like to know as well. As I will be doing this in the next few weeks.

You will need to know how much boost you are going to make to be able to determine a good solution. Thats my opinion.
Checking what others already did is a good start.

With supercharger setups, when youlower comperssion with a headgasket, you will also have to calculate in if you will be maxing out the wheel in the supercharger itself. Most of the bolt on kits offered are designed around the 10psi mark.

To get max efficiency you'll want to upgrade the charger itself.

But to answer your question, YES the car will run fine after the headgasket is installed to drive to your tuner.

I'll be above the theoretical max impeller speed of the Novi 1000 at redline, but don't anticipate spending much time there. I know I'll eventually change over to a turbo, but want to see how it goes this way first.

I understand that I'll lose some hp with the lowered compression. But I'm not sure that a 3.0 pulley and ~14psi is really safe without one.

With a S/C easier to tune, but yea I wouldn't recomend it.

Its defeinately doable at 14psi on stock compression, I just don't like pushing motors personally.

But yea, thats why turbo's IMO are better with the ability to control boost. I would say yea go ahead and do it, and if you aren't happy with the power, you apparently have your mind set on turbo afterwards, so you'll have a nice base foundation with the lower CR to go boost, then you'll see 400+

I was N/A when I put a 2mm headgasket on. Drove around for about a 1000 miles without a problem. But it was kinda rich, especially up top, where I lost power. Dynoed it to see for sure.
