S2000 Forced Induction S2000 Turbocharging and S2000 supercharging, for that extra kick.

Which would you choose?

Thumbs up Which would you choose?

So I have the opportunity to make my first S2000 a supercharged one. A person on this board is selling a Comptech SC'ed 2000 with 67k miles on it, recent new clutch, Silverstone/Black for about $18,000. Now, for around this same price (or a bit higher) I could get a 2001 with around half the miles.

Which would you choose, and why? I like the idea of the SC, but I do most of my driving in the city, and most of the SC power is made north of 5k rpm, so I might not even utilize the SC much at all. Then again, I've never driven a car that revs quite as high as this one, so I don't know what my driving habits will be.

Thoughts appreciated.

It must be your decision, no one on this board can make it for you, but if you want my suggestion, drive them both and make the choice that way, I know if the supercharger was done correctly, it will last well past 100K miles.

Have someone with SC experience look over the install to make sure everything is good to go.... take if for a spin....and go from there.

I looked at the S/C car today, and it's in slightly worse condition than I hoped it would be. The car felt pretty beastly though, but it's a Y2K with almost 70k miles, so I'm not sure. Will think it over, but sort of leaning towards a stock 2001 Silverstone on Red for now.

So this is not going to be the answer you want, but how much RWD experence do you have? If you don't have much then it's a no brainer buy the stock one and put a SC on it later if you decide too.

SC + little RWD experience on this car can be very unforgiving. You significantly increase your chance of wrecking it.

You can always pick up a used SC for a good price and get a better condition S to start with.

The only problem I have with the SC'd S2k is chances are its been driven pretty hard. That doesn't mean it has, but just more likely. It doesn't mean that the non-SC s2k wasn't beaten on either, but beating probably wouldn't have been as bad.

Also for 70k miles 18k isn't all that great to me. I paid 19k for mine with 24k miles. Quite frankly most places would subtract value for the SC because of the extra wear, not add it.
