Default For your Turbo Guys

For you turbo guys, I am just curious how long have you had your set up and how many miles have you driven on it. How many of those miles are with a 3mm hg and trouble free This may help some of the new guys on deciding what kits to go with.
I guess I can start me being new to FI.

I have Inline kit with stock hg only had her for one month. I have 1500 miles with no problems thus far

45k miles on an ultimate racing setup. First with around 380whp, now with about 420whp. I blew a headgasket about 20k miles ago! Since then, i have had no major issues

nice soul coughing, out of curiosity how did the headgasket blow? Also I am wondering with the guys without problems did you guys "tinker" with anything or just left it on after install and tune and left the way it is.

You always will have to tinker. It's usually nothing major, but there are always things to adjust, bolts to check, clamps to tighten. My car has had 99% up time. Once you push a motor past its designed hp, you have to be vigilant with your checks and maintenance. Most kits are pretty reliable though.

If I was to do everything again. I would buy ARP SRT-4 exhaust manifold bolts. I would buy either stage 8 bolts, or tack weld the turbo to manifold bolts. All issues i've had are with the bolts that attach the turbo to the manifold! Its the heat cycling and vibration that loosen up the bolts!

I think the blown headgasket had to do with a race i had with a mustang cobra. I did two 40-140 mph runs right after each other. That or alot of brake boosting. Since my retune, i had the tune made really conservative. I don't care losing 40-60 horsepower if it means my motor won't blow. Especially as I DD this thing! and only put in 93 from lots of different places!

ahh that makes sense, what I also meant by tinkering was people adding various parts or upping the boost when they probably shouldn't have. Ie changing wastegates, bovs, turbos etc, something in which a kit was not designed for. Custom kits maybe different in that regards
