i'd say keep going, i think it's a waste to build a car for 1 year and toss it away.

Keep it Jet and built a track/street car. Just sell out the aftermarket body parts and upgrade the suspension and engine parts.

I loved yur car when it had the Works, had to have been the best looking GPW in my opinion. I was actually going to purchase a set of Works just because of how they looked on your car. It was my inspiration!
