yah in person its really easy to tell but in pix they look pretty similar. i'm starting to get a much clearer picture now. thanks. any more pix? what does C-west use? 1x1 or 1x2?
In pictures the easiest way to tell the weave is to to see a picture from a little distance. A couple feet away from the car, a tight 1x1 weave will not have a discernable pattern but the looser 2x2 weaves you'll still be able to see the pattern from a distance.
Its interesting but in my experience all the 1x1 weaves tend to be very tight (Mugen, J's, etc...) but the 2x2 weaves all seem to be inheringly looser. I dont know if this is a result of the type of weave or not, but could be

1x1 is very pretty, compared to the 2x2.
pretty enough to justify paying 2-3x the price?? I think not.
$.02
Depends on which product you're talking about......a few of the authentic products are worth the extra costs because they come with some features the replicas lack.
Here's just a few things the replica doesn't have (using a Mugen hood as an example):
Mugen - super light (lighter than stock), open vents with channels (rain will not drench the interior - it will barely get in), much more clearance for all sorts of parts, a very strong dry carbon construction making it very durable, UV coating that help to prevent the carbon fiber from fading, and its exact shape is wind tunnel tested......it carries the Mugen stamp, and is used by many S2000 racing teams - you could also say that its design/concept is the most replicated one out there.......J's Racing has a version, Spoon now has something like it, and Seibon has a version.
now i gotta find me a hood. Personally after owning a couple 2x2 weave hoods i've come to realize that the 1x1 weave that I have on my trunk is definately nicer in person. I can definately tell the difference in person but in person it's kinda hard to tell.
