Just curious would insurance pay for that?
Depends on your policy/company. I know that most companies don't specifically cover things like this. If they do decide to fix it, they'll likely drop you right after.

The wipers coming on upset the balance thus causing the spin.

Yes -a lift just after attacking curbs, plus his counter-steering technique wasn't too good either. Not enough track time I suppose.
(lift - when you let gas pedal off for a moment to make the in-turn of the car stronger and to tighten the turn line, when applied in a wrong moment when the car is light can cause oversteer as it did in this case, drifters use it to make the car go sideways on certain turns)

Brings back memorys when I lifted for the first time, was in an s2k(not mine) was my 7th time on the track and 1st time out since I completed the advanced program at mid-ohio....thankfully though I just spun out into the grass and all it cost me was a detail job for my buddies car.

Scared the shit outta him cause he was riding shotgun and had never been on the track.

he didnt even say a word, i wish i got money to waste like that.
Who said he was "wasting" it? And what can you say after that? Not much you can do other than walk away from the scene and save yourself from being hit by another vehicle.

Just from his body language he seemed pretty pissed, mistakes can happen to the best drivers,if your smart you'll learn from them.
