Default Apex Blue SC'd CR

Hi everyone,

My initial build started off very normal, and future mods were just going to be your usual bolt-ons, as many people do. It wasn't until reading more things on the forums, online articles, magazines, and then discussing various builds with Alex of Ballade Sports, that we sat down and started addressing certain things I wanted from the car. Speed is something important, but that's also nothing without handling, and reliability. Rather than have a car that has a bunch of mods, the build that we finished so far is a vehicle with mods that complement each other, and combine to make a multi-purpose vehicle. It gets you to point A and B, and everywhere in between, without the monotiny of your average daily driver. Then you have the race aspect of the build, but it's very streetable, so I wouldn't have to sacrifice comfort and driveability.

You wouldn't imagine that there's 397hp to the wheels when you just want to drive around normally, but if you wanted to get on that pedal, it will quickly remind you of what I've had done to the powertrain. Both Alex and I didn't want just a show car, or something that was straight-line fast, so we had to make it nimble, since I do like spirited drives through the canyons, and will start seeing more track time this year. Again, comfort was also essential, since this is not just a dedicated track car, and there would be no need for bone-jarring suspension, when everything added to my CR made it handle that much better. The latest thing's to be done was the aero, and the Spoon calipers. I've spent the year getting this car to where it is now, and this year is when I plan to enjoy it. The goal was to build a complete car that could fit everything I needed, or wanted it to do, and so far I satisfied with what the car has become.

Thanks for checking out my build thread, and I will be looking forward to cataloguing changes I make to the car, and how I feel after everything I want to do with the car, at the track, and on the road. Now I will start tinkering with my STi, and quite possibly another vastly different project at the end of this year.

With such a nice parts list, why did you settle with replica parts?

Thank you, Gotpepsi. The thought about that, is because this car will see the street and track, and I wanted to spend money where it really mattered. If something happens to break on this car in terms of aero, I can easily replace, instead of trying to repair.

Nice car, nice parts, although I'm not a big fan of the rear bumper but to each their own. Treat her good, drive her hard!

The car looked great. I would never guess those are replicas. They seem to fit perfect. Do you daily drive the STI or s2000? I prefer the s2000 over the STI any day!

nice build in a short amount of time. i agree w/your choice to be practical w/regards to the rep body pieces, esp since the car won't be a show/garage queen.

how well did the Shine parts fit "out of the box" though?

you might want to consider the Shorai lightweight battery kit from KC Machine in SoCal. it's light as a feather and ultra high quality. Colin, the owner, is a true professional too. i just got one.

p.s. kudos for being a Suby owner as well. super fun cars. had 2 Bugeye WRXs.

I've been following this build since I saw it covered at the I heart Honda Festival. Great job!
