Default Back into an s2000! Lots of pics.

What’s up everyone!

After a 5 year hiatus, I’m finally back into an S2000 and very excited about it. Back in 2012 I purchased a Suzuka Blue 2003 with 60k miles on it. It was in excellent shape and I did a good amount of work to it. Mainly suspension, wheels, and an OEM hardtop but also Bolt-ons and a couple other things. I had other major plans for it, mainly turbo, but then the motorcycle bug bit me, as well as all of my main friends, so I sold the s2000 to a friend. I couldn’t afford a bike, my s2000, and my daily. I sold it to a friend in the hopes that he would keep it nice and maybe in a few years I could buy it back. Well 3 weeks later, he totaled it and my heart literally sunk. Another good s2000 down the drain.

So fast forward 5 years after I sold it, and 3 years after I finished my motorcycle stint ( went through 4 bikes in two years just to sell them all lol) and my search has concluded with a mint condition Sebring silver 2002 with red interior and only 30k miles! I purchased the car from the original owner who purchased in 2002. He was an older gentleman who used the car as a summer only vehicle and garaged in the winter since he used to live up north. He moved to Florida a couple years ago and never used the car so he decided to sell it. And I’m glad he did. While I was buying motorcycles, I also went through a couple different cars and none of them put a smile on my face like the s2000. They were all faster but just something about the driving expierence with an s2000 that can’t be matched for the money at least. I don’t think I’ll ever sell this car and I’m looking to maintain it and meticulously as the previous owner.

Now for the pics..

my original Suzuka blue:

And the sad day when my friend totaled it:

The bikes I had after:
2014 Yamaha FZ-09
2014 Kawasaki ZX-6R
2012 BMW S1000RR
2015 Honda CBR1000RR

The cars I had after:

2017 Subaru WRX STI
2014 BMW 335i (this is definitely the fastest car I have ever owned) I did full Bolt-ons with an MHD tune. Car put done 400whp and felt like it. Still actually own this car but will be sold this week.

And now for my new baby:

Anyway, appreciate you guys viewing the thread. I’m looking forward to getting back into these cars and back into the s2000 community. Also learning everything I have forgotten about this cars quirks in the last couple years!

Welcome back lol.

Oddly similar....I had a 2015 STi in Galaxy blue, now I have a 2002 with the red interior but it's white....crazy similar lol. Mine has 53k on it though, damn low miles you got there. Any plans for this one?

very nice! Love the drop and rims you did to the STI! Never got around to modding mine but I did want to do a similar wheel and suspension setup.

I originally wanted to get back into an s2000 to turbo it like I planned to with my last one. But now that I have such a clean low mileage one, that’s all factory, I kinda want to leave it alone you know. Who knows that may change but as of now it’ll stay stock for a while.

Any plans for yours! I do like the white on red also, it was one of the color combos I wanted but couldn’t find a good example near me!

Wow thanks for sharing your awesome story! Welcome back!

So have the prices crept up when you were searching for your Sebring silver compared to when you were searching for your Suzuka years ago?

Also, you said that the BMW was a faster car but what do you like better overall? S2k or the 335i?

thanks!

Plans for mine? Going turbo, lmao. Have most of the stuff, just waiting to hear back about my kit. I bought the car with the intention of going boost

thank you! I think the prices have gone up a little for sure! I payed more for this car than I did my blue one in 2012 but it’s hard to compare cause my blue one had 30k more
miles than this one had at time of purchase. But my blue one was 9 years old when I bought and this one is 17 years old so I would say the prices are steadily going up.

As far as fun factor, hands down the s2000 is more fun. It’s a more engaging driving expierence and much more raw feeling. Especially being a manual and such a small convertible, you feel more connected to the road and it almost “feels” faster. The bmw is definitely a beast in a straight line. With the bolt-ons and tune I had it would slam you back in the seat and shifts were very very very fast and precise. The ZF 8 speed transmission in that car is the best auto transmssion I have ever driven hands down. But the expierence overall is no where near the s2000. The bmw is much more refined but just doesn’t have that edge that puts a smile on face like the s2000.

I honestly would love to keep both. The bmw as my daily and the s2000 as my weekend special occasion car. Im only selling the bmw because while the 335 with bolt-ones is great like I said, I want an M3 lol. Once I sell the 335 it will free up some funds and in about a year or so I plan on buying a slightly used M3 to have as a daily.

Nice! Car will be beast for sure! I driven in a couple turbo s2000’s and they are absolutely amazing. I still may turbo mine but just have to really think about what I wanna do with this car. Not rushing into anything.

Man I sure hope so. My original plan was to go supercharged for the sake of simplicity and ease of maintenance. I was dead set on it....until I drove my buddy's supercharged S. He has probably one of the nicest set up s2000s I've seen both in person and online. It's a 400+ whp Comptech with all the goodies. Needless to say I was a little disappointed in the power delivery. It was fast as hell, don't get me wrong, but it wasn't generating as many hahas as I thought it would. I mean it makes sense due to the linear power delivery, you're bookin' but you just don't feel the acceleration like you would with a turbo. Again, no fault of the car or the supercharger; that's just how it works. I wondered why another buddy of mine sold off his supercharger and went turbo within a month, lol.

I'm looking for 450whp max on 93 for safety and longevity (No E85 in CT), and the only turbo kit I'd even consider putting on my car is the PTuning kit for various reasons such as less heat generated and just the overall comprehensiveness of the kit that I don't think any other manufacturer can/has offered. The only downside is it's expensive, and they only produce them in batches, which I wasn't in a position to get into the last group buy near the end of last year. Luckily they seem to be willing to run another small batch for interested parties who missed out, just waiting to hear back and I'll pull the trigger. I have a ton of mods just waiting to go including full suspension, brakes, exhaust etc....just waiting for the weather to break here and warm up again...Northeast sucks.
