If you REALLY want one, there are still quite a few brand new '01 models with this color combo sitting around at various dealers in Germany
And at a good discount as well, now that the '02s are here... Expect to pay around $28-29k.

Oh, and once you have it exported you get 16% of those $28-29k back - German VAT.

Wait a second, you're telling me that by buying a german S and having it shipped, I could get a brand new silver/red '01 for $24,360 ($29K * .84)??? Let me know where to sign up for that!

Do a search here:
http://www.mobile.de/cgi-bin/search.pl?ber...h=pkw&sprache=2

Check the boxes at the bottom for 'New vehicle' and 'VAT reclaimable'.

The prices listed on most of these cars are sans discount, so you can get a better deal if you get in contact with the dealer.

Wow, with the current exchange rates it looks like 28.000 EURO is 24.374 dollars.
Minus 16% = $20.474

Good deal, hu?

Something must be wrong...? If not, I would go S2k shopping in Germany if I were you.
Shipping should be about $1000, with insurance.

Very nice looking S! Mine is also sitting in my garage but has 1400 KM on it. ( I bought it last August)

As an aside, did anyone else notice that while Honda has dropped the Silverstone silver, Nissan is calling the silver it uses on the new 350Z "Silverstone" Just an interesting observation really.

Those prices are incredible! Some are listed at 28000 euros, or about 24.5k US. With the discount, that brings the price of a new car to $20,580!!! Has anyone done this?? Is there any way to find the year in that search? I don't see that the year is specified in the search results.

BTW, I got my S2k from Germany, mostly because Norwegian Honda only get about 10 S2000s a year, but also beacuse it saved me some $$$.

Since I live in Norway I just drove down and picked one up.
I paid $25.679 at the German dealer.

Go it back to Norway and got the 16% German VAT refunded.
= $21.570

Paid Norwegian import taxes (the highest in the world) and ended up on $50.720

But you down't have import taxes like that in the US, right?

I don't know. Can anyone help out with what import taxes into the states costs? If they're reasonable, this could be an incredible deal!!
