I currently have the 70-300, its great, the IS comes in very handy.

I shot this with the 70-300. Right now im in the middle of deciding on my next lens. I want to get an L lens, either the 24-70 f2.8 L or the 24-105 f 4.0 IS L.

S2K000, are you shooting in shutter priority mode (TV on the dial), if so you can scroll using the scroll wheel between all the shutter speeds.

Just like Pikkashoe said there are a few different setting that allow you to adjust the shutter speed. The "M" mode will also allow for shutter adjustment with the dial.
