BMW 1-Series
Its hideous... weighs almost the same as a 335i and probably only cost a few thousand less. Why would you choose this over the 335i? I dont get why BMW released it and priced it so close to the 3 series.
From Motor Trend:
"We all know that the upcoming BMW 1-Series Coupe will fill the void that was left when the 3-Series kept getting bigger with each generation. This sets the stage for what is an interesting comparison, IMO.
The now-departed M3 has 333 horsepower and weighs 3415 lbs, with 0-60 arriving in 4.8 seconds. The 135i will have 300 horses in a smaller, more tossable package. The manufacturer claims a 0-60 time of 5.3 seconds, but we all know it will be much faster. After all, according to Edmunds, the heavier 335i does 0-60 in 4.8 seconds with the same engine.
The smaller package promises outstanding handling. Really, about the only thing missing is an M badge. What do you think? Will the new 135i smoke the old M3?"
I'm thinking the price point will be gapped enough from the 3 series to make it attractive. That might mean an increase in 3 series prices but still I think it will be more than a 'few thoudand'. If we're talking a similarly equiped 135i vs 335i I'm betting the difference will be closer to $10k, and the 1 will have the M sports package and Brembo's. It's still an unknown so everything is specualtion but I can see it as sort of a Cayman S vs 911 thing where the performance difference is being downplayed as to not alienate the guys buying the more expensive and prestigious 911's. We'll just have to wait and see, at least we know that though it's a new series, it will have tried and true components from the 3 series so maybe even a 1st year vehicle will be worthy.

With full options on 335i will put 45000.
Assumption is that 135i would be around 35000. 128 for 27000.
If BMW price 135I too high, It's gonna be complete flop!
Heavy? Not Really.
The 1 series is going to be buff. It should be priced around low to mid 30s as the sticker on the 335i sedan I just ordered came out to be 47K, and with a 10,000 dollar difference will make it very attractive.
Also the tq on these engines are amazing.

That's about what I figured, even w/the 135i priced around $37k (more speculation on the web) that would put the 1's pricce point at a more attractive value when looking at a similarly equiped 3 series.
