nice idea, but aren't the 2 tail lights enough?
Any car built after 1986 is required by the federal gov't to have a hight mounted third brake light so I'm thinking if I ever got rear ended without one, not having it could end up going against me.

Can you get some closeup pictures of the part installed itself?

just dont run 3rd brakelight... also make sure to put lots of tape on spoiler... mine "sanded" down the paint from sand getting between it and car.

Exactly the reason I ended up selling my ASM Trunk Lip replica...I didn't wanna deal with NOT having a 3rd brake light.

After speaking to some friends of mine about this (some are cops, some work in auto insurance), I've learned that it's technically illegal to drive around without a 3rd brake light, as it would be considered modifying/removing one of the safety aspects of your vehicle. BUT, I'm told it isn't something that you'd typically get pulled over for, as it isn't something an officer would typically look for.

The only time when it DOES in fact matter is if you get rear-ended. The other person could sue you for it...and win.

In retrospect, I should have just done what you did, and added an LED strip to replace the missing brake light. It actually looks pretty good.

I'll get some close-ups as soon as I get a chance.
