What would be sweet is if you covered the rest of the hoops and your center console in leather, like the dash of an Aston Martin
. I'm guessing that's not feasible though...
I'd suggest that you use something minimal: If you use a rubber strip, I'd do really thin. Maybe a metal rod?
Are you chroming anything else on the car? Side mirrors? Windshield header
?

I like the leather idea. I wonder how hard/expensive that would be. The hardest part I am guessing would be sewing the leather to fit the base of the roll hoops. for the secret compartment and glovebox, I guess you could just use one piece...damn it Nate, I think you just cost me more money.

I think it would be sweet, but it'd be really tough: You'd have to run the leather over EVERY surface that is connected to the roll hoop base in order to keep the continuity. In fact, in order for it to be done correctly, You'd have to run it along the top of the doors, and over the dash
. Then you'd REALLY get that Aston Martin-ish look. Too much money, don't worry 'bout it.The chrome windshield header might be kind of cool though... I've always liked the brushed aluminum one on the A4's, and that new Rolls Royce thingamajig
