Civic Type R vs S2000
given a dry track, the S should be a bit quicker but not by much unless there were long straights where the extra 40 hp would give the S an edge. Handlingwise, i wouldnt bet that the S is significantly better than the new si.
UK civic type R does not have an LSD - only the JDM version does. The show is called Driven and it is pretty old news. Look at the last corner - the S could have easily have passed the Civic - not saying the Civic is not a capable car but come on!

I have owned a Civic Type-R and I know the european version does whip the S2Ks butt like that. No LSD and stock CTR has insignificant power compared to the S2K.

Kayvan show some respect, just like I have shown you in the past.
Despite whatever you say the Civic type r is a beautifully performing and fun car.

I see nothing wrong with what he said. People here think the S is some kind of Ferrari or something. There are A LOT of cars that can give a s2000 a good run around a track or even beat it. Some of those include FWD cars like the Civic.
But a slower car that is fwd is not faster than the s2000. I'm sorry.
A car that is about a second faster in 0-60 will just keep putting distance on as the speeds get higher.
And if any one is trying to say that the civic is a better handling car than an s2k thats crazy. The s2000 is rwd which is better than fwd in almost all racing situations. And the s2k is know as one of the best handling cars out there.
So in my simple minded headed i say s2k is faster and more powerfull and handles better, its that simple. The car just wasnt doing well in that wet track.
I dunno how they left traction controll of on a ap1, but what ever.

The S needs a few things to make it more competitive around a track. It desperately needs higher displacement. And that higher displacement needs to come from boring not stroking. If they decide to keep making the s2000, they should make the engine at least 2.4ltr. They should bump compression to 11.7. Suspension wise, use lighter aluminum control arms just like honda does in their type r cars. Give it brembo brakes. And add the I-vtec that they have in the k-series motors, and design the ecu so that K-pro can be run on it. And take out drive by wire throttle that they have implemented on the 06 cars. If they did these things, they wouldn't sit for not even one day on the showrooms before being sold. The best thing would be giving the porsche boxster S the peace sign as he is eating your dust. As well as many much more expensive sports cars.
