Wow, I usually just troll these forums, but your responses were so god awful retarded I simply had to register to set you all straight.
Of course he was suprised someone put an inline-six in a sports car. Inline-6's are designed for torque, not for horsepower OR high revs. They are inherantly less balanced, and more prone to harmonic vibration than a V6. Why do you think everyone has gone back to V6's? Your beloved Honda uses V6s in it's top of the line supercar. Toyota said when they made it the inline 6 design was a compromise to fit the turbo's on the car, they went through a great deal of trouble to get the motor properly blanced and reliable which is why they were so expensive straight from the dealer. Nissan went with the V6 after YEARS of experience with I-6s (think Datsun) because they knew it was superior and if they could get the power they wanted out of it would be ideal. They had to cram but they made alot of inovations getting it in there.
BMW uses I-6s because luxury cars are supose to have broad flat powerbands, The I 6 is great for that, which is why they use I-6 IN DEISEL MOTORS.
And, besides all that you've said none of you took into account that they were talking about stock cars, sure you can fit a huge turbo on a supra and make 1200hp, but a 1200hp car is worthless on a track, if it weren't such a chore to shoehorn two 600hp capable turbos into a 300ZX there would be more 4-digit nissans on the street than there are Supras.
