Could this be more of a ripoff?

Yes, it really is $872 list price from Honda. Street price is so much lower because so many have ones they just don't want, so they're willing to let them go for cheap. It's like AP1 wheels - list price from Honda for a set is $2098.30, but you can get them from owners for $400 or less, including tires. It's quite possible this person went to Honda to replace his top cover, not realizing that they can be had for much less than list price.

post link of list price. that is complete BS

A new complete top is nearly the same price.

I call complete BS on that and the lister of that price for that item should be burned at the stake

Majestic Honda:
http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/auto/j...8%2702-%2706%29

Cover, Soft Top - $872 list, their price $610
Cloth Assy, Top (Glass) (Black) - $1144 list, their price $801

The reason the actual tops still cost about that much on the street is because everybody wants to keep their tops - they're not willing to let them go for free like the cover.

Just goes to show you that a market glut can drive down the price of an expensive item by quite a significant amount.
