Yes, it really is $872 list price from Honda. Street price is so much lower because so many have ones they just don't want, so they're willing to let them go for cheap. It's like AP1 wheels - list price from Honda for a set is $2098.30, but you can get them from owners for $400 or less, including tires. It's quite possible this person went to Honda to replace his top cover, not realizing that they can be had for much less than list price.

Cloth Assy, Top (Glass) (Black) - $1144 list, their price $801
The reason the actual tops still cost about that much on the street is because everybody wants to keep their tops - they're not willing to let them go for free like the cover.
Just goes to show you that a market glut can drive down the price of an expensive item by quite a significant amount.
