if you mean the headlights on the car darken your image then there's two things you need to change... first, if your camera is set on automatic... then the light from the headlights entering the lens is tricking the camera into thinking that there's alot of light available in the picture and reduces shutter speed (faster shutter, darker image). Correct this by not shotting in automatic and doing either fully manual, or a shutter priority with a long shutter. Second, try to offset the image so that the headlights aren't shining directly into the lens... you might be able to get a decent shot in auto mode this way, but honestly, you need to learn how to utilize the following parameters: aperture, shutter speed, film ISO, etc.

I'm no expert, so if I'm wrong, somebody please correct me.

Oh yea... and if you're using a long shutter.. you'll need a tripod to keep the camera stable so the image doesn't blur...
