Custom Flamed S2000
Your car looks f*cking gay
Every thread that you post to, you seem to think that your opinion has some great weight, substance, or authority though each of them is negative. You must be a real important guy to have nothing else better to do than troll on an s2000 board.
Go playon the MB forums, i'm sure they will be more receptive of your 'authoritative' opinions. Maybe someone will actually care <<<doubtful>>>
Note: I have done my best to keep my comments civil and moderate, in spite of the vehemently negative reaction that I had when the pics first loaded.
I guess what baffles me (ok, one of the many things that baffles me in this thread) is why you seem to have chosen a paint scheme that de-emphasizes the body kit.
What's the point of putting on a body kit and then turn around and make it (virtually) invisible? It's not like you're affecting performance in any way, other than probably increasing the CD.
I don't know. If I painted a pig on my hood, would everyone at s2ki.com stand up and say, "Tim, I applaud your willingness to be different"? What they SHOULD do is whack me soundly on the head. While the flames certainly don't equate to a pig, the whole concept is kind of lost on me. I'm still trying to figure out what "look" you were striving for, beyond just being different. Were you going toward a 50's retro-flames look? I can see doing that on a Plymouth Prowler, or maybe a PT Cruiser, but I don't see a consistent theme that gives anything else about the car a "retro" look. (I'm ignoring the fact that they only thing truly "retro" about the S2000 is its S500/S800 heritage.)
However, if you were dead-set on flames, I'd expect to see a color that worked *with* the body kit, such as a strong orange, possibly ending lower on the body. In addition, the lines of the flames, in my opinion, draw attention AWAY from the natural lines of the car, which is what most would consider one of the most beautiful shapes on the current market. Why not work WITH the lines?
As others have said, it's your car, and you should feel free to do what you like, but I don't think it's overly harsh for me to suggest that the flames do nothing more than state (very loudly) that you're interested in exercising that right. If my analysis of style is short-sighted in some way, feel free to correct me.
Tim
P.S. I would hope, by posting the pictures, you expected that you might get...
...flamed.

why are so many people trying to over analyze why he did this?
i think it looks great and i cant wait to see it in person if i catch you sometime in dallas.
with so many s2ks these days i give you props for making yours different than all the rest.

Well, I must say that I'm really quite amazed about how mature some of the people on this forum are. I really think we have some great people here, but we also have some that aren't. To all the people who dislike my car and explained why, thank you for your constructive criticisms.
TimTheFoolMan - your critiques really inspire me. Truth be told, the car was painted completely yellow, and I stopped the painter after he sprayed the car yellow, and we came up with a design that the both of us liked. The pictures really don't do too much justice to how much of the bodykit is visible in person. Now I think my car turned out pretty well, but unfortunately, it won't be a paintjob I will keep for more than a year. I do plan on painting the car a Royal Blue within the next year or so, and maybe getting a different body kit, and this time around I will have everyone's wonderful critiques to help me build a better car.
JoeD - I think it's really sad that I'm 20yrs old, 19 when I got my S2K, and that I act more mature than you. I feel sorry that you do have the opinon that you have. I would like to ask you to delete, or modify your post though, so it isn't quite offensive to people who may view my post. If you won't, I'll ask a moderator to delete it.
Sorry that my car isn't what some of the people on the board like, but NO ONE will ever be able to please everyone, and I wasn't fishing for compliments when I started this thread. I just put my car on here, so people would see it, and if anyone saw me, they would know I'm from s2ki. If anyone would like to discuss any problems they have with me or my car, please pm me directly, and spare everyone else the useless and derogotory comments.

"it's f&$king gay"??? yeah a real champ.
I would like to think that most people on this board are civil enough to sit down and have a beer with and be able to talk cars or whatever without having to resort to this kind of crap.
Back on task though.
Jason,
It's not really my cup of tea but hey... if it makes you happy. Like Tim said about the lines of the car. Personally the only body kits that do it for me are the airwalker or mugen, a few of the front lips jays/airwalker/backyard, while others seem to be completely incongruent with the original lines of the car i.e. Cwest/veilside. Of course this is only my opinion. Some people think i'm weird because i listen to classical music and like Roman architecture, and when they complain i just crank up the volume that much louder.
ccarnel, actually thank you for your post. My first reaction was to use choice words against JoeD, but I'm gonna be the bigger man and be civil about the whole thing. Main reason I got a bodykit was damage to the front and rear bumper, and back left quarterpanel. The veilside kit replaced/hid all of that damage. I do like the airwalker and BYS kits, and that might go on the car next, we'll see.

I love the dark blue color, i think the whole car should be that color, but...
Definitely unique and if you like it, great! my suggestions to make it look even better with the wild paint job are
1) clear diffusers and sidemarkers
2) Veilside toneau(sp?) cover
3) some sort of wing, maybe cwest GT wing would offset it nicely.
mad props on the quality of the job though, looks professionally done
