A day at the beach
Here's a few pics from sunny Florida. And not to worry, I took a towel so she wouldn't get sand in/on her!

D'oh! You caught me! Those pictures were actually taken in late December. Don't let the sun fool you...that day was about 35 degrees outside and really frickin' windy. This is northwest Florida after all (aka Lower Alabama, aka Redneck Riviera), not Miami
. It was sunny though, and the car had been mine for about 2 days, so it made for some nice photo ops.

I've been on the beaches of the west coast of the state once in Sarasota and I must say the sand was fantastic -- white and powdery. I've heard that the sand up your way is the best in the state (if not the country) and your pics seem to support that claim.
Are you located anywhere near Destin? That's supposed to have the ultimate white sand beach. Man, this is making me really envious!!!

CG and S2000 Driver, y'all are quite correct. The sand here is (arguably) the best in the world...the Australians don't like to hear that
, but having been there to visit, I don't think the Gold Coast can compete with the Emerald Coast. And we don't have Great White Sharks!. In fact, the first time I went to the beach for volleyball in the summer, the *front* of my neck got sunburned...I couldn't understand what the heck was going on. Then it hit me...the sun was reflecting off the sand! Sheesh. Anyway, thanks for the compliments (and letting me off the hook). CG, I'll see you Sunday with another rental Miata...this time with wider tires

Tedow and CG,
You two are very fortunate to be living in such a beautiful area. I must see these beaches for myself!
Sounds like next time I go to visit my folks in St. Augustine a road tip is in order with my Sebring Convertible rental car (this is my standard Florida rental car -- I know, I know -- but hey when you're a tourist in Florida, what the hell, why not act like a tourist!).
Be prepared for some questions coming from me on the local sites I should check out. Maybe if I think about this enough it'll help me get through this awful winter here in New England!
