Before the advent of the Audi Quattro in 1984 the most successful rally cars were rear wheel drive Ford Escort, Vauxhall Chevette HSR, Lotus Sunbeam, Lancia Stratos etc.
In the UK we still see plenty of Ford Escorts (Mark 1 and Mark 2) rallying successfully in National Rallies... some are even fiited with an F20C... as an example, this Mark 1 (1972) Escort runs with an F20C...
