Obviously the OP isn't going to drive around with cardboard diffuser (I hope not). Most aero parts start from cardboard mock ups before final shaping. It's part of many necessary steps that makes creating something original that much more enjoyable.

Glade to see more DIYs popping up here.

The cardboard was used for a mock up to get initial shape and dimensions. Lots of companies do this...
