"The 'Gumball 3000' rally is not a race, and if you break the speed limits you are likely to end up in jail!!! Those of you that have done the Gumball before will know what to expect, those that have not, I hope you are prepared for what is about to take place.
Vehicles are not limited to categories, and entries will be accepted from the most diverse forms of transport possible. So whether you enter in an old Cadillac, or a brand new Ferrari, its your 'Gumball spirit' that counts. "

Well that was amazing. Couple of questions to anyone with the answers:
Were the european cars that were brought over legal to drive on our roads? if so how?
Why $8700 to enter? What happens if I just show up and run with them?
What do you get for your entry fee? Possibly the privilege to drive on public roads
Thanks for the video!

I think that as long as the car is registered in europe, you can drive it here. I'm in Canada and I can drive to the US without re-registering my car. And there are certain things that are illegal on cars in Canda but legal in the US, Like daytime running lights, in Canada, we have had them since 92 (i think) and in the US, they just adopted them. So maybe it's the same for Europe-US...
I suppose you could go run with them and not pay.... but you would be a looser for doing it... they meet in a hotel conferance room before they leave and several times during the race (checkpoints), you would not be invited in. The locations are kept secret. As the cars are taking off, they are handed directions to the checkpoint in a sealed envelope, you would obiously not get these directions... so if you lost the car your following, you would not know where to go... It's very easy to loose a ferrari.. and if you have to make a bathroom break and the other guy does not.... your screwed..
Also the fact that you will look like a compleat jackass for doing this... your car will not have gumball stickers on it ect, so none of the other racers will acknowlege/help you... so you will be just some guy driving across the country... alone... you can do that right now if you want.....
