Kudos! Now all I have to do is not go out to eat for every meal for a year, and I'll have enough money!

Eh.

In my industry that's not an especially impressive test of carbon fiber strength.

YOU are the cause CF pricing has gone through the roof & supply is down!

Thanks a lot Dreamliner...

lol wow they actually let u do that?
I was actually afraid to at first until Kanayama-San got up on there and started jumping up and down and told me to give it a try.

However, only the -06 version is this strong. The -06 lip is actually lighter and stronger than the -04 version which was shorter.

I was wondering the same thing.
Kanayama-San and I are friends, I don't think he'd invite everyone who walked through the door to do the same. I was hanging out at the ASM shop most of that day and we were running out of things to do. It's like an nightly S2000 meet there, a lot of customers go by after work (or during work) to just hang out and chat.

wow. did it bend at all?
NOTHING flexed at all. The front lip didn't bend and the bumper didn't move. The entire front suspension loaded when I stood on that thing.

Mind you, I wasn't standing halfway in the grill. My feet are hanging off the edge providing the most leverage on the lip and the lip is REALLY long. (see pic below)

if ASM knows what they're doing with aerodynamics, I'd say that bumper should easily be able to make 180lb of downforce at speed. I'd be worried if it couldn't hold his weight...
I completely agree. However, what's impressive is the workmanship and quality that went into building the car and the lip's ability to not flex at all when force is applied to it. Most aftermarket lips are just bolted to the bumper and reinforced with a tie rod. Those probably should be able to generate a lot of downforce but are terribly inefficient due to the amount of distortion when loaded. Basically just more non-functional weight. Keep in mind, this is just a tuner car. (kinda)

The ASM Tsukuba Time Attack car designer is actually an ex-Mugen (pre M-Tec) race engineer that used to design the functional aero parts Mugen USED to make.

That is a sad statement for M-tec (Mugen) ; they seem to be a boutique company now instead of hardcore. At least as far as their consumer products are concerned

Sadly,

Luckily for us, we still have ASM.
