How come threads on fake Bride seats are all hate, yet a portion of people seem a-ok with a fake performance automobile? I bet you anything that a fake Bride seat comes closer to Bride performance and quality than this car comes to any aspect other than first-glance-visual to that of an R8.

I think we're fascinated, or at least me, because of the time and dedication each guy takes to build these reps. Seats and replicated parts is way simpler to duplicate than these IMHO.

I suppose so, but this thing is no closer to replicating an R8 than a Del Sol outfitted with S2K head/tail lights and blended lines is replicating an S2000...
We could all nitpick about what ISN'T identical to the real R8 - but that's not really the point. This car is not a replica. It's really just a Mercury with a body kit - do you disagree? I understand it's not a kit car built from the ground up to imitate something else - but it's still built as an imitation that is, AT MOST, skin deep. There is nothing performance, nor luxury, about that car. Even at a car show, I think people would be confused, until they saw inside, or under the hood, then they'd be disgusted - haha.
