So on that 2nd vid with the Renault engine, are we watching injectors just spray into the intake trumpets right there?
I would've thought F1 had a more sophisticated fuel delivery system than that, but I must be missing something...

Another reason it is done here is the increased mixing time for the Fuel/Air stream then if the injectors were place closer to the valves.
If there was to be an injector(s) failure(s) during a race the hole array is replace more quickly then if they were in the intake runners.
The injector array is located farther from the hot portions of the engine bay leading to denser/cooler fuel at injection; less chance of a burn for the mechanics or flare up this way as well
