Fathers and Sons photo thread
My dad is the main reason I am into cars. He used to have this awesome hot rod truck when I was a teen. It sounded like it drove out of the pits of hell. I miss that truck....it was a total sleeper.
my dad drives a beige '07 sonata. 0 car support from either parents. even though i don't live with them and they haven't contributed a cent i still get a lecture every time they go on facebook and see a picture of me and the s2k at a track event yelling how i'm "ruining my car"moar pics though!

sorry i had to laugh about the facebook part
My dad was part of my inspiration to cars... He decorated my bedroom wall when I was a kid with two framed posters, one of a Lamborghini Countach and the other a Ferrari Testarossa... though he wasn't too into the intricacies himself, just the looks and the holistic horsepower, it got be drawing box cars at a pretty early age.
Throughout the years, our family went through some ups and some downs, and one of the most memorable cars he had owned was an old E30 325i... I still remember the feeling of the first time I've been planted solid to the rear seats.
As I grew older and got myself a degree in mechanical engineering, my love for cars only grew, and of course with any parent, the more I spent on my hobby instead of saving up, the more he disapproved. I don't think he understood the significance and the magnitude of knowledge, both in terms of engineering and even philosophy, that goes into balancing out a production car - and improving upon it with what we do best, MODDING!
One thing he said that I remember clearly when I first got my license, and I still follow today, in terms of driving and in terms of life in general... "learning how to drive fast by stepping on the throttle is easy, you just stomp on it... but learning how to drive fast by using the brakes... now that part is much tougher."
Sadly, he passed away just over two years ago. I think that if he were still around though, he would have loved my car (despite more nagging). I still have his "war machine", a '99 Benz E-class with AMG package (available to non-AMG spec cars in Asia), so I will follow up with some photos when I get a chance. Just wanted to share the story first.
