Painting them would be even better. I was just taking the safe road just in case you ever wanted to sell them... you can probably sell them for more if not painted, thats why i suggested vinyl ... you def should do it!

how about covering the fenders with black vinyl and using a stencil, cut out the cwest logo on there... i think thatll look interesting.
Thats what Auto RnD had said but still wouldnt work because the paint will crack. I mean go ahead and do it will but one car show or track event and you will have cracks/spider webs in the paint. Thats exactly what Shawn told me. Especially since we are going to use the car on the track and daily driving, it wouldnt be a good idea. But you can always listen to someone else. Guys that dont have the fenders or people that have just seen them and dont know how thin they really are will tell you to paint them all day long, I mean I did.

I was like everyone else and thought I was right and I even told the owner of RSRUSA that you could paint them. Then when I saw them in person he was like you can see right through the CF and he also said they are way to thin plus they drift the car. I would really wait till you get your second set then you can beat the hell out of this set and paint them. I think it looks good on your black car regardless.

no point of trying to convince the owners of those CWest fenders to paint them. Everyone likes different things, and you cant force others to all agree with you.

As long as there are other CF parts to match the fenders, I think they look pretty cool on the car.

A few questions about these fenders:

Are these fenders new? How long did it take before the cracks appeared?

If there's no clear, or other coating on the fenders, then isn't the cracking structural?

Do other owners with the CWest fenders have the same cracking issue?

The CWest fenders are NOT carbon fiber, right?

I thought they are solid carbon, so there's no fiber weave pattern, just a solid color.

His fenders cracked due to a number of reasons. I wont get into those . Mine are fine except under hard cornering I cracked some of the underside but its not noticeable on the outside.

The Cwest fenders are a Honeycomb Composite CF. They are carbon fiber. Its not really a dry CF like everyone thinks. The HCC thats on top of the CF makes the fender appear to be of a dry carbon composite but it is not. You can actually take your finger and scratch the HCC off of the fender and you get a shiny/wet looking CF underneath.
They actually flex quite well.

my fenders cracked because of numerous issues but i won't get into detail on that. Some of which were caused by hard cornering.

Chris i only thought of the idea it sounds nice but i remember seeing the rsr car in person and you're right the paint looked like it was going to fall off. So as far as painting this set i have i probably won't. Let me know if your sources get more fenders soon and if my budget fits it i'll probably get another one.

By the way did you get the Advan tires we spoke about? I am picking a set up next month. The price was great.
