except that i dont have wheels or springs

Gerry, I guessing that you had a Exhaust gas recirculation(EGR) Valve cleaned or replaced. The 98-01 V6's clog the EGR ports and stick up the valve pretty regularly. There is a SB and an 8 yr 80k extension on the EGR system.
