Default First attempt at HDR......

Just came back to browse the forums for a bit and thought I would put these here.

I downloaded photomatix and decided to give HDR a shot.

The first pic is during the day, the rest at night of my car and a buddies bike.

I think they turned out great for the most part, except for one that looks a bit grainy and I cant figure out how to get rid of that.

Anyways, here they are. Let me know what you think!!!

not really an hdr photo....you could do that with 1 exposure. an HDR is a photo with many exposures to come up with 1. eliminating the shadows and properly exposing everything in the photo.

This is not my photo but this is a prime example of hdr. notice how the building is bright and very well exposed while the clouds are thick and dark. you couldnt do that with 1 exposure so thats where hdr comes into play. I would do some hdr photos but i dont have cs2 to merge my photos.

heres a comparison:

your HDR:

My single photo:

could I have taken this in hdr? sure i could have. I would have gotten better definition in the clouds and the darker spots of the car but the 1 photo serves the purpose and looks fantastic. If you have any questions please let me know. also would you mind sending me the photo of the 1st pic? I wanna try and play with the levels. also what camera are you using?

The first pic was 3 exposures, the rest of the pics are 5 exposures......using a Canon Digital Rebel XT.

I will PM you the three originals for the first photo so you can play with them from scratch.....

From what I have seen and heard, daytime HDR shots with sunlight are very hard to get looking perfect.....but hey, practice makes perfect right? Never done this before, but I have done lot's of PS work, so this is a bit new....

ok played areound with the 1st image set to 0 exposure. and this is what I got. Try when taking a photo get the car into the sun and under expose by 1/2 a stop. you will notice the car will be a bit dark but the sky will be exposed better. You can always lighten up teh car in PS after the fact. What lens are you using? I could have done alot more but it was just a quickie.
