Default Floods downunder....

I just wanted to share with some of you the flooding thats just hit a 'country city' about 90 minutes from where I live in the capital city. This occured late this afternoon in no less than about 1hr or so I'm told.

This is a 'country city', on top of a hill / mountain range... No downhill water flooding the city, just pure tonnes of water smashing down. Mother nature at her fiercest...

Feel free to have a browse through the FB page. It has pics and videos..

Some of the pics...

One of the main streets in town...

Nearby weir

Normally looks like this:

But for me, this is the pic that really stands out... This pic is taken heading down the mountain range... on the main highway in / out of the city... I've circled the sign to highlight the same location.. This isn't at the base of the hill, if anything its actually near the top.... this is proof just how much water mother nature dropped on us...

Before and after....

I wouldn't wannabe at teh bottom of that mountain range......

I checked the weather website...... they're currently copping more of the same as we speak..... poor bastards. 9 people missing, 4 dead. Not a good way to start the week / new year....

Hopefully, you don't have a run-in with a poisonous snake.

Our dam is at 174%...... releasing 240,000 megalitres of water into the rivers.

Things are about to get ugly.... Parts of my town are being evaced I'm told. Did I mention I live in the CBD...?

We had a huge flood in 1974... killed my city the capital of my state. I'm being told if the damn wall gives way, it'll make 1974 look like a puddle...
