What probably happened is when the front end hit the pavement all the debry from the bumper came up flying and a big piece ended up hitting the windshield.

I'm pretty sure someone on this board posted this video before. I think some people he knew turned off the warning lights coming up to the speed bumps the night the speed bumps were installed and that's why the cars had no idea. I'll try and search for that thread.
