why do they put tape on the lights when they hit the track?

Id hate to give incorrect info in such an awesome thread (thanks OP) but it looks like the Greddy lip. They are about $200. The bumper is a stock ap1 with an intake hole cut in i think. Looks like he is running wider fenders too.

I looked at this lip too but think its too aggressive for the rest of the stuff i have so went oem instead.
