Default Got my wheels back from powdercoating...

Hey everyone....

Well, I got my AP2 wheels back from powdercoating yesterday. Cost $200 for all 4 wheels. Not that bad.

I originally wanted to go with a Gunmetal / metallic, but the powder was discontinued (like S2000GT's wheels). Since that was not an option, I decided to take a little risk, and went with a Bronze color (Statutory Bronze to be exact). When I originally saw the wheels on hangers at the shop, they looked almost CHOCOLATE . But, when the tires on on them, its almost a chameleon color. In DIRECT sunlight, they have a brown tint to them, but in shadows / indirect sunlight, they almost look Gunmetal. Very interesting color. I saw a pic of this color on a Spa S2k, but (personally) I think they look better on my Silverstone...less of a contrast.

Well......here are the pics. Let me know what you guys think...the caps and lugs are getting painted next week (need to get sample so I can properly match it). More will be posted when lighting is better, and it stops raining.

Angle shot from Driver's side 1/4.
Passenger 1/4 ground level. Bright, sunny day.
Another Passenger side pic. (no driver's side due to position of sun and backlighting)

Passenger's side (bit more close-up) This is the most accurate picture on how they look in person.

Close up

Weird. I just got mine back, too. I will also be posting pics soon. They did a great job on mine as well. $160.00 for all 4. I have an nfr and went with the gunmetal color. Pretty sweet. I took a screw driver and tried to scratch the wheel on the inside, somewhere inconspicuous, and couldnt make a mark. This is some tough stuff.

Yeah, I know! I just wanted to get the brown tint in a pic.....the camera was about 12" from the wheel with it in night mode. Also, I rinsed that wheel off a bit, and the water is making it look brighter than it really is. I will take some more pics tomorrow with some decent light (those were around dusk).

That last pic is what they look like in person. I used a wide angle so as to not reflect any flash directly back into the camera. The first one is so bright because the flash was coming right back at the camera from the clear coat.

I like the darker wheel look just because its different. You always see chrome and different shades of light grey/silver. It also hides brake dust really well (but I still clean it almost every weekend ).

It will look better when I clear the corners and lower it a bit.

Yeah, the first pic looks like poo. The others are not so bad. Overall, its not a color I would pic but hey, as long as you're happy. Atleast you didn't spend too much on them so it could be easy to do again if you get tired of the color.

Oh sure, everyone wants to look like Lee's car (S2000GT).

They look good, but on a silverstone, black would look really cool too.

Nice job.

Who told you that? There are tons of manufacturers of powder with literally thousands of color options.

Anyway, I'd like to see better shots in the sun.
