definitely clear the diffusers, just make sure to seal it really well, otherwise precipitation will form in the housing.

I am clearing them as we speak but can't get them pressed together like the factory was. All the tabs are snapped I think but I am real peranoid. I did put lots of silicone adhesive in the groove. Should I heat it more and press it more?

goto home depot and buy two irwin quikclamps in the proper size for the headlight and i'd clamp em down a little bit and let it dry if you want the best possible seal, or wrap it in a thin blanket and tie a rope around it really tightly with even pressure about the headlight.
