muz, how do u choose which parts of the each image to show? is it that you look for the parts of the pics that are around the same amount of light?

a very simplified walk through would be very appreciated.
These links will provide just that and probably do a better job of it than me... :-)

Nice shot of Singapore! I like Photomatix. Also to add onto Mr. Forgettable's comment, I want HDR shots to be obviously HDR, if I want a clean shot realistic shot I'll just take one. HDR is just something fun to do every now and then.

Just getting into photography myself you've definitely piqued my interest in HDR

One thought from my point of view (given the subject) is that the HDR techniques seem to lead to color effects on the car that I don't find very appealing (just in my own opinion). Perhaps in that situation I could experiment with composing the HDR shot and masking off a normally exposed shot of just the car so that the car was exposed normally and the background came out "HDR"? Just a thought

I want my HDR shots to look slighty surreal. That's the whole point of taking them and the reason for their underlying attraction for most people. It's a welcome departure from normal photography (on occassion).

I've yet to try Orton. Have you?

Honestly I haven't heard anything on Orton, I have been so tied up with other work lately my photo escapades have been lacking and my camera is on the back burner. I might have to look into it though. If you end up using it let me know how you like it vs photomatix.

Orton is a style of post-processing (often used in landscapes) where you combine two images (one image in focus and the other slightly out of focus).

I've done that before with one photo and blur plenty of times.
