headlight mulder mod!
alright, i was cleaning out the garage and found some scrap glossy black vinyl (too bad it wasn't matte) and i had the idea to do a cheat way of getting the mulderized headlights for the ap1, without taking the housings apart. i figured this would be real easy and if i didn't like it the uninstall would only take thirty seconds.

so, i brought my vinyl to work and used that paper cutter to square off the edges, for the inside strips i made them 1.5" wide and the outside vinyl i just laid it from the inside and trimmed off the outside edges as necessary. install was just as easy, just line 'em up but 'cause the housing curves you can't get it to follow the reflector lines, so at best just make them all parallel with the curve at the bottom.
had before pics on my digital camera but then i realized i didn't have the sd card in and i was going directly to internal memory and i don't feel like digging around for the usb cable for it, so i took some cell phone pics and sent them to my email. anyways, so the vinyl on the headlights looks alright, not digging them yet, just wanted to see how it'd look. funny, i went to walmart and when i came out i forgot that i had done the mod and was like "why are my headlights looking so dark?"
so here it is, the mulderized look using vinyl, real quick, only a few minutes for the install in contrast to baking headlights, separating housing, disassembly, painting diffusers, and resealing. we'll see how long i keep 'em on the car.

i want to say it was a five year vinyl but i don't recall, i'll peel it off long before it reaches it's end of vinyl lifespan, with people putting tint on headlights/taillights i'd assume heat won't be an issue with the vinyl, especially 'cause it's so damn hot anyways here in the sun.
if you think it looks like shit, say it looks like shit. just don't give me the condescending "but if you like it crap." watch your sentence tone, this was a playful just messing around with vinyl mod (yeah the black is too dark for a sebring but would look killer on a berlina)...
