It works the second time. Done it on my car and a friends. Both of us took out the diffusers and once the clears were being made, did it again.

Did you use any other kind of sealant the first time, or did you just leave the factory adhesive alone after putting them back together?

I used new silicone both times. The second time around took me a little longer digging out all the old silicone. WD-40 can be used to baste while baking....it helps break down the silicone.
