Beating on the car in the first 500 miles isn't what bugs me. It's his horrendous driving and the fact that he bought a CR for that.....

Altho I think he guy's a complete tool, I would like to offer that there are 2 lines of thoughts to engine break-in. Easy early, or hard early. Unforunately, there are no real answers as to which is better.

Here's an article about getting on the gas early (and we actually broke my friend's new Si in following this method, so we'll see how the car does in the long-run. He's already getting 31mpg with only 1500mi on the clock.)
What annoys me about the guy is that he's pretty clueless about the car, and he's abusing it in ways that aren't exactly "respectable." I'd prefer that he abuse it at the track/autox/track-day rather than doing stupid donuts and burnouts.
