Get an AP1, with a F20c and a Ap2 transmission, get coilovers, with ap1 front and ap2 rear, dual exhaust obviously hardtop as well. bet all around

for the beginner RWD driver the AP1 is a bit scary & much harder to drive.

with the combination of 16" high pro. tires (usually if you buy your s2000 used the tires are not all that great of model/brand) and very short steering, the AP1 can be dangerous at times. (esp. the wet or even trying to enter corner).. it is a very "on the rails" handling. The AP1 is the more Raw sports car.

the AP2 on the other hand is a much refined s2000, for the street. with extra speakers, extra cusion, and some extra torque, the AP2 makes for a more comfortable daily driver/street car. The suspension is not nearly as stiff as my01 and the steering rack has a longer ratio which makes it so much easier to throw the car around(for the beginner RWD driver). The low profile/wider 17" tires also help the car feel more stable.

every upgrade in model the s2000 has gotten heavier. for example, 00-01 is lighter than 02-03. 04-05 is lighter than 06-07. and so on .

every upgrade in model the s2000 made more power on the dyno, but due to weight and other restrictions they run the same times.

ANY YEAR s2000 has a best 1/4 mile time of 13.6x@101mph. (maybe 102?)

now, once both s2000's are modded it's a different story also. for instance, 17" wider wheels/tires will do wonders on an AP1 car. Once some stiff coilovers are thrown on to the AP2, the AP2 is no longer that comfortable Daily driver.

all in all, when modified an s2000 is an s2000.
though I still perfer the AP1.

I have had both and AP2 is the better car for me. But really they are both great just make sure its in good condition and it really doesn't matter.

Get which ever you like! If you like to beat the crap out of your car revving to 9k everyday then AP1 is for you, but if you want a bigger engine, lil faster, don't care about revving up to 9k, and better body style then go with an AP2. Suspension wise, it doesnt even matter because you'll end up with a set of coilovers anyway.

But for me.... AP2 FTW!

Just to let you know, most AP1 owners like to convert to AP2, some if not all.

I picked the AP2 because of the extra torque, better gearing, better looks, more creature comforts, and to be honest, ap2 is still plenty raw. Don't mistake people when they say ap1 is soo much more raw. Ap2 is still not a good daily by any means so you get the point. I have a close friend with an ap1 and honestly feel a significant harder pull both by feel and when we run. I pull away really easily from my friend's ap1. But yes, the ap1 has the 9k and at 9k all your hair in your body are standing up so there is a compromise.

only reason i would get the ap1 is the 9K rpm, everything else AP2 is just nicer imo.

omg another ap1 vs ap2 thread.... someone close this before it turns ugly lol

this is just gona fill with a bunch of non sense comments like the person above me.... its all based on preference!

the only people that can tell the difference between a well kept ap1 and a well kept ap2 is serious car enthusiasts... theres a bb ap2 rolling around my area and people tell me "dave there's a wannabe rolling around the area" "not as nice as yours though"

it all matters how you do it up! theres some realy nice ap1's and really nice ap2's on this forum.

Im not gona commit to the same idiotic YO 9K IS BETTER YO

or BRO MY FRONT BUMPER IS NICE BRO
