We've had a TV in the garage numerous times.. we just lug the 32" in there and put it on the workbench.
During the superbowl, boxing, etc - it's an ideal place to have a bunch of people over where you aren't at all scared of having beer / food spilled all over the place. Super easy cleanup.
I wonder if this guy is going for the same effect, on a more "permanent" basis?
edit: wow, after seeing the house, he's simply ridiculously rich and wanted a TV in his garage... *shrug*.
one of the houses my dad is working on right now has a 40-something-inch LCD TV behind the semi-transparent mirror in the washroom... I..don't get it.

The guy could be an investor. This way he can watch the market updates while working on the car. 
I've got cable, phone & internet connections in my garage, as well as pre-wired speakers. Doesn't seem too illogical if you spend enough time out there.
