The s2000 door is almost impossible to fix (actually, it is impossible) to even 80% of factory quality. Funny thing is, it costs 20 dollars more (insurance calculations) to replace the door, than fix it. Why? Because the door is about 800 with all the internals. The door skin is about 300. However, the door is 2 hours to replace (insurance labor payout) but 15 hours to attach a new skin.

doh!! I agree with replacing the door not fixing it...
Ok well than here's my predicament...

I've already gotten the quote for replacing the fender and FIXING the door. How do I tell them I want it replaced? Do I tell the claims adjuster or the auto body shop?

The same thing happened to me last week and I did the same. But in my case, it was a hit and run. Then two days later, some guy runs a red and clips my front, but I buffed most of that off (also a hit and run).

I've gotten quotes from 450-1000 dollars for the big dent in my door.

I feel for you.

Bye bye deductable, what a bummer. Morons need to pay more attention, I've been hearing that the Lotus Elise is pretty much invisable to other traffic, and super expensive to fix since the entire bodywork consists of two giant clamshells.

I doubt they will replace the door since there is relatively little damage on it, so there won't be enough labor involved to make it cost effective, or even competitive.

That absolutely sucks man... sorry to see those pics. At least the guy didn't go anywhere, and you have his insurance info. I would call the adjuster back and tell them you want the door replaced, not fixed.

The guy at the body shop said I need to call the insurance adjuster and tell them I want the door repaired. But from him looking at it he said they probably won't do it. And he also said if he bangs it out and I don't like it they'll re-do it until I'm happy.
