what do you like better so far the 2000 or the 2005
pros and cons
2000-2001

I liked the fact it is a S2000
NO Clock
Stereo wasn't the best
transmission problems
headlights were plain
center console only fit 1 cup (dont drink in my car but its nice to have a place for 2)
rear end problems
no leather console cover

2002-2003

Revised headlights and tail lights and upgraded stereo

2004-2005

Nicer steering wheel
Hate the 8k redline
Bigger wheels
2.2 engine is smoother
suspension feels better (not sure if it reallyis or its been awhile since I drove a S2000)
Nicer front and rear bumper
Headlights and taillights
Guage cluster is nice
upgraded exhuat tips (makes it look like a aftermarket)
interior us nicer
glass rear window
defroster
horn is louder

You're not imagining things. One of the 2004 revisions was to tone the suspension down (no more go-kart feel) to appeal to a wider audience. It still handles like previous model years, but when going over bumps it certainly feels smoother.
