Looks like the bolts were broken off. Could they have been torqued too tightly?

The guy who witnessed it says that the lugs were the wrong thread. The guy was doing approximately 45 mph. Car did not run anymore due to bent rotors. Poor RX7.

Ouch. That reminds me of the time when I was autoxing up in Michigan, about 7 years ago, I saw the samething happen to a ford focus. It turned out that the lug nuts were too short and didn't have enough threading.

There's a good view, briefly, of the left rear and the studs appear to be sheared off. Improper torque, wrong nuts, or something like that is a likely culprit. I feel sorry for the guy. But I lol'd.

Same here, I'm a huge RX7 fan. This video breaks my heart and scares me at the same time. At least most of the body/interior is OK. The underbody must be totally trashed though. Hope the dual oil coolers made it out fine .

But I lol'd the second time I watched it.
