dxlst, very nice!
but i assume that you have a big hole in you dash right?
for the past few months i have always wanted to put a screen in my car, but then what if i want to trade in/sell my car or worst, someone breaks into my car..
will a 8" screen fit w/ the JDM dvd frame?

-----------------------------------------------------------------
cost:

frame $40
navi screen $385
tv tuner $200

Well, even though I rarely think about resale when modding a car , there are a couple solutions to your question about cutting the dash.

1. Keep it nice and trade or trade + cash with someone else when its time to sell.

2. Worse comes to worse its like ~300 bux for a new dash (I *think*), if you're willing to spend all that money on DVD/Nav and a custom install, whats another 300 bux?

Just my $0.02

Isn't your Alpine DVD unit like $1200 MSRP ? I want one but
too expensive for me.

the 8" screen I think wont fit in the dash b/c there are 2 beams inside the dash, so there's just enough space for mine to be mounted with brackets and template to mount the screen... I'm currently installing a screen (6.5") at the same place as dxlst did.

Mastergrade has one. They are one of the sponsors of this site. Purchase at your own risk!

I just got a quote from japanparts.
I ordered the frame off Type V model.
Total came out to be 4842 JPY, about $45 US.
Pretty good, eh?

I also got the screen for only 400 bucks....but it's used.
