Default JDMricist's intro and pics!

Hello S2KI! Never got around to doing an intro thread but just washed the S and thought I'd just post up some sweet pics I took in the Texas sunset here since it's more of a pic thread anyway..

I know someone's gonna say it.. "Can't tint lexan you dumbass!" Yeahh..I learned that the hard way..

Here I have my dimmable RGB LED footwell lighting that I leave on a subtle dim red. Sometimes I turn it to a dim white for an OEM look.

Also hooked up to the wind deflector. Looks 100x better with top off but I didn't feel like taking it off after detail/clay/polish/wax..

This is supposed to be taken on the other side with the top off but thought, why not..

Some autox pics.

First car, my Acura CL 3.0 V6. Named her CLohie haha..

Sold the CL for the Z then sold the Z for the S.

Can you explain what happened how the tint got that way? I was thinking about doing that.

Lexan has completely different heat properties than glass, and so adhesives are MUCH less effective. Air gets in between the lexan and tint film 100% of the time and bubbles like such, hence his comment at the start about tinting lexan. He could probably do something with light layers of spray on tail light tint though.

OP: Car looks good! Glad your here . Was the 300zx a twin turbo?

Haha yeah, I'm a little overdue on that but I'm getting new pads soon so I'll just kill two birds with one stone.
Researching right now actually on what kind I want to get. Anything I assume will be better than the Duralast Gold the previous owner left me with..

Exactly what s2kreeper said. I'm going to spray tint it with some VHT Nightshade but I am just NOT looking forward to taking off that tint..
Thanks! Nope. I bought this as an non-turbo autotragic with plans of a VH45 or LSx swap. Decided on the running VH45 I got for $500 at a pick n' pull. Tranny finally died so we started the project but with school and work I never had time to finish it.. So I put the stock engine back in, did a 5-speed swap, drove it for a few months, drove my buddy's S2000 at a track meet, fell in love with it, sold the 300ZX in 2 weeks, picked up the S2000 in another 2 weeks after that.

What a bummer though. Would have been such a beast..

you can buy different level darkness transparent or "smoked" vinyl. it bonds to the lexan like a boss and looks identical to tint. similar in composition to the tare-offs they use on nascar windshields now.

My buddy has that stuff on the lexan glass on his targa top from his Vette. He said it was an easy install but it makes the lexan look like the early AP1 plasticy hard-to-look-though rear plastic window after it's already been hazed over. It was also pretty expensive from what I remember aswell.

The cheapest and most logical way for me to tint it is the spray tint method. I'm just really really worried that I'll mess up the lexan either taking off my current tint or even making it worse by using the spray tint.. So many things can go wrong so I'm gonna wait for spring break so I'll have enough time to buy and install a new lexan window just in case I screw it up.
