I don't think the K20R exist, TSX is a K24 and TL uses J series.

The Prototyperacing exige uses a K20A from the Type-R.

the R probably implies its the K20 from the Type R. Similarily, some people called the old b18c5 the c5R

yup right you are.. the motor they used before the k20a was a Spoon Crate b18c-r motor (integra type r motor). i know this cuz, i was going to buy the spoon motor for my civic

I too prefer the Honda engine over the Toyota. I'd probably own an Elise now (or waiting for mine to come in) if the K20 had been used.

I've heard two possible reasons why Lotus went with the Celica engine, though.
1) Honda wanted way too much money for the engines.
2) Lotus already had a relationship with Toyota from other projects.

I also feel that Honda power should have been used in the new Lotus Elises. Afterall, Lotus and Honda had a pretty good relationship during their 1986-1987 Lotus-Honda F1 days. If Honda was asking too much money, Lotus should have just paid up! "Powered by Honda" is a great thing.
