Learning as I go.
I'm used to taking iPhone pics and giving them a slight touch up through instagram or photobucket. I bought my fiancé a DSLR so she could continue her photography passion but also so I could upgrade from phone pics to high def. lets just start with its a TON different.
What I'm using:
Canon rebel, not sure on the model or lense. I can get that info tonight when I see her.
Photoshop- Lightroom- pretty easy to use but tons to learn.
My personal automotive knowledge and angles/scenes to shoot in.
Anywho. Here's my first attempt at messing around with settings and editing. Feel free to add constructive comments and tips! I know I could do better but I didn't have time for a better background.

This one is a bit fuzzy. I think I used the wrong camera setting (ie focus)

I like this one but the front end is a bit dark.

This ones my fav and ill eventually learn how to cut the pole out.
Tapatalk is acting funny so ill see if this will post.

s2ki has a sub thread for photography, just for future reference if you wanted more criticism and tips

so my overall tip, picking the time of day to shoot. shooting in high noon makes it hard cause it's easy to overexpose parts and underexpose. best time to shoot is sunrise , sunset, or overcast, i prefer sunset cause i don't like waking up early lol i dunno if your camera lens came with a lens hood, but if it did, you should use, helps keep unwanted light from entering the lens like the flare in the first image.
be aware of framing, in the last 2 images, i know you mentioned you didn't like the background much, and if that's the case i think the images should have the car take up more space so that you have less of the unwanted background
what setting are you using?
full manual, aperture priority, etc..
EDIT:
the side profile image of your car looks like the white balance is off, looks way too blue imo

Thanks for the reply. Ill hop on there and do some research.
Ill agree with the comment on the last pic. I think I remember playing with the blue. I'm using autofocus at first cuz when I used to mess with the focus it'll look clean on the camera but fuzzy on a computer.

i usually use autofocus unless i want the background or foreground blurry and the rest focused

black_em1, i'm nikon user myself, i just noticed the op had a canon. i actually forgot they had different abbreviations.
i myself prefer to use either full manual or aperture priority
my guess is as good as yours about the "face" setting wolf
