no doubt about it, the evo evo's respose to mods compared to the S is amazing. he way I always explain it is this, you forget the torque aswell as the 4wd. When you get on the gas that initial torque on throws you back into your seat. This makes the car "feel" much aster then it may be. Due o the fact that the S does not have much torque you do not feel that push into the seat as you would cars with lots of torque throughout the rpm range. By the time it's at the point where the S is in it's powerband you are already moving, so you still will not feel that push as you would with others. I can't explain very wel, but I hope I'm making sense enough so you understand what I'm talking about.

I have had many a encounter with evo's, and have also witnessed others encounterz against them. From a stop the evo will win no problem, if, the driver can launch properlly. I saw most do not because they really don't. Most just rev to 5k, because I believe there is some sort of limiter stock form, and drop the clutch bogging badly, others just cnnot do it at all. Anyway from a roll I have yet to loss to a stock evo. One of my buddies has an 04 evo, and if you ask him he will admit that my car was pulling away from him on our highway runs. As I've done the same to other evo's aswell. Ofcourse once they are modded it eliminates the chance of the S winning from a roll, but then again you sill have to consider drivers skill. again I am not basing m thoughts because of one encounter i've had, but many.

I hope you don't think I'm just rambling on because I to am a fan of the evo. Although through my personl experience, as well as the encounerz I've heard and read about, the evo just losses steam up top, and that's where the S takes over.

To eliminate this factor, we "race" from a roll and just floor it. No reving at all..just roll and floor. This gives us a car comparison rather than a driver comparison. You get to compare spool up, throttle response ect. We compare drivers at the auto-x and go-kart track

As this is related to where this thread has gone, I'd like to add my experiences of tonight. I met up with a guy in an STi...all he had was a 3" cat-back and a better clutch. I wanted to see how I'd compare to an STi at this point in my mods...and he was really cool about it. We went to a secluded area and did a race from 0 and race from 20. We also had people watching at the end to give us distances.

In the first from 0 from the start, he got the jump, obviously...he pulled an entire car length in just the launch (sounds like my Evo race huh) then we stayed dead even...friends at the end said there was a car length between us. Then we did a 20mph roll-on...I got the jump as he obviously has some lag being turbo. I pulled to putting his nose at my rear bumper, then we stayed there, again, dead even the entire way...friends said I had 1/2 car length (probably gained in a faster shift).

You can see all my mods in my sig...really not enough IMO to put me much higher then stock, besides he had the exhaust which would put him a little above stock as well.

Just thought I'd let you guys know, the S2000 isn't slow...definitly not as mod friendly...but stock/stock...its not bad. Overall though, yes, I'd say the STi has more useable power...once you wait for the turbo to spool...which of course doesn't take long with a 2.5L

Just no surprise to me that a Lovefab S2k would spank an Evo

^ an STI is faster from a deatch stop than a EVO and so is it from a very slow roll. We've been racing on a 4 lanes highway, 1 x STI, 1 x EVO, 1 x me and 1 x stock 2002 S and let me tell you the STI was faster from 0-100mph than all of us...passed him only at very high speeds (was NA back than)....oh, just phuck it, we have all nice fast cars, right? let's enjoy them!

1. Which car did you use to shoot the Evo vs. S2000 race? Must be fast to keep up with the 2 cars?

2. Your wife's got good camera skills.

3. Need to race this Evo next... http://videos.streetfire.net/Player.aspx?f...AF-9DCC7F13F5A2
The camera car was a modded Mitsu 3000GT with a fat camera guy. When I raced him (20 minutes before the run with the EVO), I pulled on him, but during this run he was on fire

A stock Evo, whether at launch or at roll-on, is SIGNIFICANTLY faster than a stock S2000.

I was able to out-accelerate a supercharged / aftercooled S2000 at a roll-on.

After having run literally about 15 evo's before I was SC'd and now after being SC'd with even more experience, I know that to be absolutely false.

You are correct, though, when saying they respond better to mods. But thats about it. They are by no means SIGNIFICANTLY faster than s2k's from a roll, much less a SC s2k.

wow nice mods on the evo. You know with those mods I can see you beating a sc S. With a stock comptech( by stock I mean with the provided pulley), the s should get somewhere between 280-300whp depending on the tune. With your mods I would say ou were around 330-350whp. plus you would be getting more torque and should pull initially starting from low speeds like 40. Your rght though if he was in third then he was wron and should have been in second.
