Yeah, they're beautiful. There is one here in Australia and the guy have worked it up. Apparently it runs 4 seconds 0-60mph. It's pretty much a road legal steroid injected go kart. However I've heard the top end suck because of the size of the engine.

Well, it's a 1.8L pushing about 177 hp. The light weight attributes to the cars 4 second range of 0-60. If you take a close look at the car and its interior you'll see there's nothing besides 2 seats, 2 guages, a shifter and 3 pedals. And there are no doors, you hop in.

I believe it weighs in around 1,400lbs.

Engine:

4 cylinder in-line, 1.8L mid-mounted water-cooled engine with Lotus developed engine management system. Double overhead cmshafts with mechanical tappets. Electronic multi-point injection.

Performance (estimated):

Maximum Power: 170bhp @ 7800 RPM
Torque: 171Nm @ 5000 RPM
Maximum speed: 130 mph
0-60 mph: 4.3s
0-100 km/h: 4.4s
0-100 mph: 10.9s
0-160 km/h: 10.7s

Transmission: 5 speed transaxle driving rear wheels, close ratio gearbox

Gear Ratios:
First 2.923
Second 1.750
Third 1.307
Fourth 1.033
Fifth 0.848
Reverse 3.000
Final drive 4.200

Body: Composite body panels with detachable clamshell with 2 radiator entry panels for battery and brake fluid and removable engine cover. Boot and bonnet covers are fixed with allen bolts (9 on the boot, about 5 each on the bonnet panels).

"That" won't make it to the US. It was a limited production run of 340. Strange thing is that even though it is so rare, it depreciated a considerable amount.
A low mileage (sub 10,000miles) 2 year old is yours for 22,000 pounds sterling When they were selling new for ~32,000.

When I was last in the UK I visited a Lotus dealership and took a lot of video of the 340R they had in the showroom.
